Ma tot gandesc de ce noi, fetele, suntem atat de fascinate de papusi. Probabil pentru ca ele traiesc intr-o lume ideala, creata strict dupa regulile noastre. Ele fac tot ce noi nu putem sau ne e greu sa facem in lumea reala: arata perfect in permanenta, fara prea multe retusuri; au toate hainele, bijuteriile si pantofii pe care si-i doresc; nu se ingrasa, nici nu slabesc … desi sunt atat de frumoase, atat de fascinante, le lipsesc doua lucruri esentiale: gandirea si sufletul. Iar eu, desi am incercat un outfit de papusa, recunosc ca nu as renunta sa fiu om nici pentru toate colectiile haute couture din lume …

I’ve been thinking about why girls are so fascinated by dolls. Maybe because the live in an idealized world, which perfectly obeys to our rules. Dolls do everything we can’t or we find extremely hard and time-consuming: look perfect every day, without too much effort; have all the clothes, jewelry and shoes in the world; don’t get fat or too skinny … and although they are so beautiful, so fascinating, they are deprived of two crucial things: thinking and feeling. Even if I’ve pampered myself with a doll-outift these days, I must say I would never give up on being human. Not even for all the haute-couture collections in the world …
